Marauding Scotia whip Guardian in BH League
-

DEFENDING champions Scotiabank ‘A’ registered an emphatic 50-1 win over Guardian Life Insurance as the WISYNCO-sponsored Business House Open League play-off continued at the Leila Robinson Courts on Tuesday.

Scotiabank ‘B’ had beaten Guardian Life, 23-14. Both teams are still unbeaten and are being coached by Winston Nevers.

Meanwhile, Group ‘B’ will see former champions General Accident taking on Jamaica Broilers in their final play-off round-robin encounter.

Jamaica Broilers on Tuesday had to work hard before clinching an exciting 21-19 win over the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) after taking a narrow 13-10 lead at half-time.

The Open League play-offs continue this evening at 6:30.

Scotia ‘A’, led by goal shooter Marsha Murphy, went on a goal-scoring spree as after romping to an early 6-0 lead and increased their tally to 12-0.

Guardian Life were hardly given any scoring opportunities and the only one they got in their first half went off target when they score had reach 24-0. At half-time the defending champions led 25-0.

Guardian Life surprised the spectators when they scored their only goal 15 second into the second half through Joan Dennis, and that was all they would score for the entire match.

The bankers, a much more experienced team and moving very swiftly in their approach and their combination of passes, eluded the insurance team, moving their score to 40-1.

With Guardian Life no match for the defending champions, it was only how far the victory margin would have been as Murphy, along with goal-attack Viola Francis-Cummings, continued to score goals at will until the final whistle ended the match at 50-1.

The Jamaica Broilers-JCF game was more exciting, despite the low-scoring. The teams were evenly match throughout, with Broilers have a slight edge in play.

Meanwhile in the Consolation Knockout quarter-finals, Sagicor Life Jamaica defeated Grace Kennedy, 24-4; Jamaica Public Service registered a convincing 26-10win over Advantage General Insurance; Wary & Nephew got past National Water Commission, 11-9, while National Housing Trust defeated South East Regional Health Authority, 25-4.

The semi-final of the Consolation KO will be played this afternoon with Sagicor Life Jamaica meeting Jamaica Public Service and Wray & Nephew meeting National Housing Trust, starting at 5:45 pm.
